It is estimated that 87% of Fremont County land is owned by the federal and/or state governments or by Indian Tribal entities. This makes finding private, forested land for sale increasingly difficult. Comparable forested land for sale can be found in and around Dubois or Jackson (both a long trip from Lander). Land pricing in both Dubois and Jackson have risen exponentially in the the past 10 years.
